CME Students ‘participate’ in International Summit on Free Trade

In CME's new course, Direct Entry English for International Studies (DEIS), students develop English skills directly relevant to their future studies in International Relations, International Communications, Politics, or International Law at Macquarie University. As well as in class and research essays, assignments include participating in role plays, such as summit meetings at which important international issues are negotiated. Pictured at left are students acting as major international politicians and representatives of international organisations such the UN and WTO, at a summit meeting negotiating a plan of action to address issues relating to the impact of free and fair trade on developing countries.

The DEIS course was developed in collaboration with the Department of Politics and International Relations at Macquarie University.

SSEPP goes bowling

Balls, pins and students were tumbling as 18 SSEPP classes donned the fancy footwear and took over North Strathfield AMF Bowling Alley. For many students, it was their first time denting the maple. The fiercest competition was to be found amongst the teachers, with Phil getting the best results on the day and Adam rating an honourable mention.
